Applefest began in 1989 as a simple harvest celebration to support the Warwick Valley Community Center. Named one of the “Top 100 Events” in the country, over 30,000 visitors now attend the one-day event, traveling from neighboring states to experience the extraordinary variety of Warwick’s apples, culture, and entertainment.

The festival is produced by the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Warwick Valley Community Center.  Festival proceeds benefit these and other local non-profit organizations.

The Applefest 2013 Committee is pleased to announce this year’s T-Shirt Design Contest. The competition is open to all Warwick residents, including students. Entrants are encouraged to submit one or more designs, and the winning design will be printed on t-shirts to be sold at Applefest.  The entry form with rules may be downloaded by clicking the link above. Copies will also be available at the Chamber of Commerce office in the Caboose on South Street, Warwick.

The following prizes will be awarded:

First Prize – $50 Warwick Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificate and winner’s design printed on this year’s Applefest t-shirts

Second Prize – $25 Warwick Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificate

Third Prize – $10 Warwick Chamber of Commerce Gift Certificate

The gift certificates may be used at a wide variety of stores, restaurants, and businesses in the Town of Warwick.

ENTRY RULES

• Artwork must be no larger than 12” x 12” and should be printed out & submitted in full color (no online entries).

• All three of the following MUST be included in the design:

1) Applefest 2013
2) 25th Annual
3) Warwick, NY or Warwick, New York

The artist’s name or signature should appear somewhere at the bottom of the artwork.

• Complete and attach the bottom of the entry form to the back of artwork AND paper clip to artwork a stamped, self-addressed envelope (SASE) for notification.

• Artwork must be dropped off at the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce Caboose on South Street by the June 15 deadline.

The winning design will be chosen by the Applefest Committee. ALL entries will be displayed in Akins Pharmacy window on Main St. before Applefest.

After Applefest, entries will be available for pickup at the Chamber of Commerce Caboose until November 6, 2013.

Entries will be judged in two categories: the Junior division for bakers age 16 and under, and the Senior division for those age 17 and older.

Entrants must attach a 3×5″ index card to their baked pie, including their name and phone number, Junior or Senior division, type of apple used, and the recipe ingredients for crust and filling.

No pre-registration is needed. Apple pies should be dropped off on the day of Applefest, between 8 – 11:30 a.m. at 2 Bank St., in front of the attorney’s office. Please label the pie plate with the your name and make sure to pick it up after the contest.

When judging is completed at approximately 1:00 p.m., pies will be sold by the slice. Proceeds from the sale of apple pie slices will go to the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry.
